The Mission/Vision Statement of IAW
The "International Association of Whistleblowers” (IAW) promotes and encourages laws seeking to oppose hazardous, illegal and unsafe conditions, and to oppose waste, fraud and abuse of authority in government and government funded entities. We also advocate the fundamental premise that laws need to encompass all valid truth tellers, including those who speak up on public concerns, public safety, and to protect our nation's security, health, environment, civil rights, and the welfare and liberty of the American public. We enlist citizens throughout our country to make our concerns known to Congress, to the Media, to the Public, and to enlist assistance for positive change.
The vision is that all valid truth tellers from any walk of life have legal protection through carefully promulgated laws.
One objective is to enlist a number of elected officials to shepherd through the law making process a strong set of comprehensive laws to protect all truth tellers within the next two years.
A second objective is to provide a forum for truth tellers (both embryonic and established) to network and exchange experiences.
Identify committed elected official(s) who WILL make it a priority to make the law a reality and nurture these champions throughout the process. We aim to determine in the next two years:
1. A critical analysis of past successes and failures in whistleblower protection.
2. What is (are) the controlling factor(s).
3. What is needed to create actual change.
Develop a list of support services for all truth tellers, such as
1. pro bono legal services
2. psychiatric/psychological counseling
3. documents to support claim(s)
4. reading resources, books, literature, experts in the field
5. other human assets
6. how to do check list
7. how/when to deal with the media
8. state and federal laws
9. mentoring
10. friendship and solidarity
